So who on earth is Jimmy Dean.......

My name is Jimmy Dean (honestly!) and I'm an amateur woodworker living in Buxton, England. I am self taught, having gradually built up my skills since around 1990 when I started fiddling with wood. I think I must have inherited some skills from my Grandfather, who was a cabinet maker by trade. When I inherited his tools in 1990 I decided to try to put them to good use, rather than let them waste away.

This is me following a sucessful audition to become the missing third Kray brother........(and it is clear the double sided tape I use to keep my lugholes pinned back slipped a bit on my left ear just as the photo was taken)

When I'm not pottering in my garage I like to occupy my spare time working as a Logistics Manager in a local manufacturing company. An extremely stress free job. (Not)

What happens when your wife stoves your head in the vice because you spend so much time in your garage....

I work with wood mainly because I enjoy it and also, as I improve, I have found a growing market for my work. Initially my work sold by word of mouth to colleagues at work, neighbours, family etc., however now I've entered cyberspace good and proper. I now sell to a truely international market, well I've sold some to USA, but most of my business tends to be UK based.

I'm 30ish years old, married to Dawn and have 2 boys (apprentice woodworkers), Samuel & Joshua, aged 7 & 8 and a beautiful baby girl, Lydia, who was born in April this year. I do my woodworking in my garage, which is fitted out with all mod cons - stereo, sideboard, heater etc.

There are plenty of photos of my garage in the manufacture page of this site.

My wife categorically refuses to allow me to publish any pictures of her or the children on the web so you'll have to use your imagination. (however if you are extremely sharp eyed there is a picture of her buried deep in this site somewhere, but you'll have to look carefully, and don't tell her,,,,)
